The service-oriented docking mechanism contain two different component. The omni-directional moving platform (command center) was mounted by microphone array and wireless ethernet connection. Each of the remote static robots recieve command through wireless AP and send acoustic signal out. By recognizing specific sound pattern, the moving command center dock with one of the static robot and move on demand.
Talking head is a homecare project sponsored by the National Science Comittee of Taiwan. The robot is designed to be a user-friendly interface for senior citizens who would be accompanied by homecare robot. Dialogue commands are easily received using the microphone array, and the pet-like appearance attained the trust of user easier.
